Official Rules: BT Calgary – Calgary Co-op “Fresh-cipe” Contest

City Calgary - ROGERS BROADCASTING LIMITED

1. “Contest Period” starts at 12:00pm on September 26, 2014 and continues until 11:59am on October 17, 2014, the “Contest Closing Date”. No purchase necessary. Only one (1) entry per household is permitted.  Any attempt or suspected attempt to enter more than once per person, any use of robotic, automatic, programmed or entry methods not authorized by these rules, shall be deemed as tampering and will void all of your entries. All times are Mountain Times. This Contest is sponsored by City Calgary, a division of Rogers Broadcasting Limited, hereinafter referred to as (“City”) and Calgary Co-operative Association Limited, hereinafter referred to as (“Co-op”) (the Contest Sponsors).

(a) To enter visit www.BreakfastTelevision.ca complete the entry ballot in full along with your Fresh Photo and included  your “Fresh recipe” (the Fresh-cipe) with the ingredients and instructions to create a main course entrée and submit it as instructed by the Contest Closing Date.

(b)  A representative from City will pick one (1) entry from all eligible entries received based on the following Schedule.

Selected entrants will be deemed to be a Finalist. Each Finalist must be able to attend the videotaping of the Fresh-cipe cook-off (the Event) to occur at Co-op’s Crowfoot food store located at 35 Crowfoot Way, NW, Calgary, Alberta on Friday, October 24, 2014 between the hours of 6:30am – 9am. 

The three (3) finalists at the Event will be given the opportunity to be eligible to win the Grand Prize. Each Finalist must be able to attend the Event on the date as specified, if a Finalist cannot attend the Event, another Finalist will be drawn from all remaining eligible entries as per Schedule above. Each Finalist will be contacted by telephone or email, as set out on the entry form.

The finale portion of the Event will be judged by a representative of Co-op who will determine the potential Grand Prize winner at the conclusion of the Event live on Breakfast Television the morning of Friday, October 24, 2014, that is, the conclusion of the Event.   

Each Fresh-cipe, consisting of a main course entrée, to be created by each Finalist at the Event will be judged on: originality/creativity, level of difficulty, appearance and taste within the allotted time of 6:30am – 8:00am at the Event. 

The Finalists will share the cooking facilities of Co-op’s demonstration kitchen at the Co-op Crowfoot food store located at 35 Crowfoot Way, NW, Calgary, Alberta. The kitchen equipment available to the Finalists includes the following:  double wall oven, double door refrigerator/freezer, triple sink, four burner gas cook top, small flattop/griddle, microwave and approximately 20 linear feet of counter top work space.

The equipment listed above is all in a shared workspace to be used cooperatively by all contestants.  

The Finalists will be given the opportunity to view the kitchen facility in advance of the Event.  This preview opportunity will only take place from 5:00pm to 5:30pm on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Co-op’s Crowfoot food store located at 35 Crowfoot Way, NW, Calgary, Alberta.

Finalists must bring their own ingredients. Although not mandatory; all ingredients for the Finalists fresh-cipe should be sourced from and/or be available through Calgary Co-op food stores.

Finalists should be prepared to bring their own cooking apparatus that is required for their fresh-cipe; for example, any specific pots and/or pans, cooking utensils, presentation plate/platter.

  • Participants will have roughly 45 minutes to prepare their completed dish (please be conscious of preparation and cooking time)
  • Ingredients can be peeled, chopped and or marinated ahead of time; however, must be prepared on site at the Event (45 minutes)
  • Please bring dinnerware for plating and presenting your dish, as well as any cookware you may require (i.e. pots, pans, baking sheets).
  • All ingredients are to be purchased ahead of time, by the participant
  • Calgary Co-op will make available assorted cutlery (i.e., forks, knives, spoons) and linens (tablecloths, napkins)

 

Finalists will be asked to provide a sample of their Fresh-cipe dish for taste judging and one complete presentation plate of their Fresh-cipe for appearance and presentation judging.

Dress:  Safety is of utmost importance. Finalists are asked to dress accordingly: no loose fitting clothing, no open-toed footwear, and hair must be tied back. Gloves will be made available for the proper care and handling of food material.

(c) If a selected weekly Finalist cannot be reached within 2 days following the draw, incorrectly answers the skill-testing question, declines the prize, or fails to return a Release of Liability as specified below, another entrant will be selected.

2. Prizes:

(a) Each finalist is eligible to win one (1) Secondary Prize, and consists of a $250 Calgary Co-op gift card.

(b) Each finalist is eligible to compete and vie for the opportunity to win the Grand Prize at the Event: a $2,500 Calgary Co-op gift card.

All prizes must be accepted as awarded and may not be transferred or exchanged. The Contest Sponsors reserve the right to substitute a prize of at least equal or greater value in the event of the unavailability, for whatever reason, of the advertised prize.

3. To be declared a weekly winner, selected entrant must first correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question posed at a mutual convenient time via telephone prior to the Event; and will also need to return a signed release of liability and acknowledgment form.  Contest judges' rulings are final and without appeal in all matters related to the Contest and the awarding of prizes.

4. By entering this Contest, entrants consent to the use of their entry, name, city of residence and/or any photograph of or that may be taken in publicity carried out by City and its advertising agencies, without further notice or compensation.

5. This Contest is open to residents of Alberta who are over the age of 18, excluding employees of City, its parent and affiliated companies, representatives, dealers and agents, Contest suppliers and judges, and those with whom they are domiciled.  No full-time employee of any restaurant, fast food outlet, food store, cooking establishment or hospitality enterprise shall be eligible. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations.

6. No communications will be entered into except with selected entrant.

7. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries. All entries that are incomplete, illegible, damaged, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of the rules may be disqualified by City. City takes no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late or destroyed entries, or for typographical or other production errors. City is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this Contest. All entries become the property of the Contest Sponsors and will not be returned.

8. City is collecting personal data about entrants for the purpose of administering this Contest. No further informational or marketing communications will be received by entrants unless entrants provide City with explicit permission to do so as indicated on the entry form. 9. By entering this Contest, entrants release and hold harmless City, its advertising and promotional agencies and the Contest judge(s), their affiliates and respective directors, officers, owners, partners, employees, agents, dealers, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively the “Releasees”) from any liability in connection with this Contest or, if declared a winner, the prize(s). Before being declared a winner, entrants may be required to sign and return, within a stipulated period of time, a Declaration of Compliance with the Contest Rules and a full Liability and Publicity Release. By accepting a prize, winners consent to the use of their name, place of residence, voice, statements, and photographs or other likenesses for publicity, advertising or informational purposes in any medium or format without further compensation or notice.

10. This Contest will be run in accordance with these rules, subject to amendment by the Contest Sponsors. Contestants must comply with these rules, and will be deemed to have received and understood the rules by participating in the Contest. The terms of this Contest, as set out in these rules, are not subject to amendment or counter-offer, except as set out herein.

11. (a) City assumes no responsibility for failure of the internet or the website during the Contest Period, for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the Contest.

(b) City reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, suspend or otherwise modify this contest, cancel any method of entry or void any entries submitted fraudulently should unauthorized human intervention, or other causes corrupt administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper operation of this Contest. In the event of cancellation, City may elect to identify the winner and award the prizes by way of random drawing from among all non-suspect, eligible entries received up to the time of such cancellation. Any attempt to deliberately damage any web site or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, City reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.

(c) If the identity of an entrant is disputed, the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant. The individual assigned to the e-mail address for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address is considered the authorized account holder. A selected entrant may be required to provide proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the selected entry. All entries must be submitted from a valid e-mail account that may be identified by reverse domain name search. The sole determinant of time for the purposes of receipt of a valid entry in this Contest will be the Contest server machine(s).

12. Unless explicitly stated, Breakfast Television Contests are in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Apple.
