Breakfast Television Outdoor Classic "Junior Reporter" Contest
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
Citytv Calgary, a division of Rogers Broadcasting Limited
1. The Breakfast Television (BT) Outdoor Classic "Junior Reporter" Contest (the “Contest”) starts at 5:30am Mountain Time (“MT”) on Monday, February 6, 2012 and continues until 11:59pm MT on Monday, February 20, 2012 (the “Contest Closing Date”). No purchase necessary. Only one (1) entry per person is permitted. Any attempt or suspected attempt to enter more than once per person, any use of robotic, automatic, programmed or any entry methods not authorized by these rules, shall be deemed as tampering and will void all of your entries.

Uploading a video file telling us why you should be our Breakfast Television Outdoor Classic Reporter.
Please note: video files must be in the following format:
- .avi, .dv, .mov, .qt, .mp4, .mpeg, .3gp, .asf, .wmv, .mpg. Maximum file size = 200 MB. Any other submissions will be rejected and deemed void;
- Original and recent, accurately reflecting the subject of the image;
- Taken by the entrant or by a family member.
The entrant must be the exclusive owner of the video and/or have all necessary rights, title and interest in and to the image and its negative (if any). By entering, the entrant represents and warrants that the entry (including the images) has not been copied in whole or in part from any other work, does not violate or infringe any copyright, moral right, trademark or other proprietary right of any person or entity, and is, together with the copyright and moral rights therein, the sole and exclusive property of the entrant.
(ii) Complete the online entry ballot on the Website in full, including the name of Junior Reporter.
By entering and uploading/submitting a video in the Contest, each entrant agrees to assign all right, title and interest (including copyright) in and to the video entered to Rogers and waive any and all moral rights in the video in favour of Rogers. Rogers may, in its sole discretion, elect to use, in whole or in part, any photo or video entered into this Contest for its own future advertising and/or promotional activities, without notice or compensation; and that the person submitting same has no further copyright or similar claim. Each entrant warrants to Rogers and its agents, parent, affiliated or related companies, subsidiaries, divisions, prize suppliers, and promotional and advertising agencies and administrators that the submission does not contravene or infringe on anyone else’s copyright or other intellectual property, is not false, inaccurate or misleading & does not violate any law or regulation; is not libelous, threatening or harassing; does not instigate others to commit illegal activities; and does not contain pornography; does not contain any viruses, worms, or other computer programming intended to or that could interfere with the ability of others to enjoy the Contest website.
a) Submissions may not be for any other person, or include any other people in the video or photo, must not contain defamatory words/statements (including words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, age, or socioeconomic group); may not contain material that is inappropriate, indecent (including but not limited to nudity or pornography, profane, obscene, hateful, tortuous, slanderous or libelous language or gesture), may not in any way reference persons or organizations without their written permission, may not include threats to any person, place, business, or group, must not disparage persons or organizations associated with Citytv, Breakfast Television, Hockey Canada and the IIHF World Junior Championship; they must not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm, entity, and they must not in any other way contain material that is unlawful, in violation of or contrary to all applicable federal, provincial, territorial, or local laws and regulations in any province or territory where video is created.
b) The submission cannot contain any unacceptable clothing or adornments, or display any commercial/corporate advertising, including but not limited to corporate logos, brand names, trademarks, slogans, political, personal and religious statements as determined by Citytv, in its sole discretion.
c) Citytv/Breakfast Television judges reserve the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any entry that does not comply with the requirements of these Contest Rules. Submissions must be suitable for presentation in a public forum, in sole determination of judges and/or Citytv.
Entries must be received by the Contest Closing Date to be eligible for the Grand Prize. For the purposes of this Contest, receipt of an entry occurs when Website server(s) record(s) the entry information resulting from the entrant clicking the “Submit Entry” button. Proof of entry does not constitute proof of receipt. Automated entries (including but not limited to entries submitted using any robot, script, macro, or other automated service) are not permitted and will be disqualified. Limit of one (1) entry per person per household. Entrants assume all risk of lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, garbled or illegible entries which will be deemed void. Internet access is required to participate. Attempts to enter through any other means than over the Website will be void. If you do not have Internet access via a personal computer, your local library or Internet café may be able to provide access to the Internet at no cost and a number of Internet service providers and other companies offer free e-mail accounts. All entries become the property of Citytv, a division of Rogers Broadcasting Limited (“Citytv”) together with its parent and affiliate companies, representatives, agents, directors, officers, employees and assigns and will not be acknowledged or returned. By submitting an entry, entrant grants to Citytv an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license in perpetuity to reproduce, broadcast, communicate, distribute, adapt, modify, create derivative works from, and otherwise use all or any part of the entry and its accompanying images in any media throughout the world, and waive all moral rights in and to the entry and its accompanying images without further compensation to the entrant. By accepting a prize, winners consent to the use of their entry, name, depictions of their place of residence and any images submitted as a part of this Contest, voice, statements, images or other likenesses by Citytv and Hockey Canada, (together with Citytv, the “Contest Sponsors”) for publicity, advertising or informational purposes in any medium or format without further compensation or notice. Entrants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Contest Sponsors from and against any claim or action brought by a person whose consent was not obtained by entrant or by any person claiming that (i) its intellectual property rights, including without limitation, copyright, moral right (including rights of integrity, attribution and anonymity), trademark rights, or (ii) its personality or privacy rights, are infringed by Contest Sponsor’s use or reproduction of a submitted images and/or entry.
(d) All eligible entries will be judged by a panel of producers of Breakfast Television (collectively, the “Contest Judges”) to determine, in their sole discretion, the potential BT Outdoor Classic "Junior Reporter" winner. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received and the suitability of the submitted entry. The potential winner will be selected by the Contest Judges on Tuesday, February 21, 2011. The entrant who submitted their “Junior Reporter" entry will be contacted by telephone at the telephone number on the entry. To be declared a winner, selected entrant must first correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question posed by telephone at a mutually convenient time and return to the Contest Sponsors a signed release of liability and acknowledgment form, releasing the Contest Sponsors from all claims and liability relating to the Contest and fulfillment of the Grand Prize by the deadline included on the form. All Contest-related documentation outlined in this paragraph must be returned by the deadline included in the package received by eligible winner after notification by Contest Sponsors.
Contest Judges' rulings are final, binding and without appeal in all matters related to the Contest and the awarding of the prize.
(e) If a selected entrant cannot be reached within one (1) business day following the selection, incorrectly answers the skill-testing question, declines the prize, fails to obtain any necessary consents as outlined herein or fails to return a release of liability as specified below, another eligible entrant will be selected and will be subject to disqualification in the same manner.
2. Prize. There is one (1) grand prize available to be won and consists of the following:
- $1,000 from South Pointe Toyota to be applied to a Registered Education Savings Plan.
The Prize will consist of a $1,000 Registered Education Savings Plan (“RESP”) and consists of a one time, upfront deposit of $1,000 made by South Pointe Toyota Scion. into an RESP established for the child participating as the BT Outdoor Classic "Junior Reporter". The child and the entrant on the ballot will be enrolled in the Plan as the beneficiary and subscriber respectively. The Prize is a group Registered Education Savings Plan (“RESP”). Deposits and the income earned on the deposits can be used to assist with the costs of a post-secondary education for the beneficiary. The final value of the RESP cannot be predicted or guaranteed as it will depend on several factors, including the amount of income earned in the RESP Plan and the amount of any administration fees deducted. The $1,000 deposit to the RESP Plan may be subject to a one time, upfront enrollment fee which will be deducted from the Prize value. The number of units held in the winner’s RESP Plan may vary depending on the age of the child at the time of enrollment. All final details will be determined based on the final financial institution where the RESP is established. (Approximate Retail Value of the Prize is $1,000 CAD). The approximate retail value of the Prize is dependent on the associated fees of opening the RESP. The Prize is non-transferable and no substitutions are allowed except by the Sponsor who reserves the right to award a prize of equal or greater value if the advertised prize is unavailable. If a winner is unwilling or unable to accept the Prize in the contest as described in these rules, an alternate winner may be selected. The depiction of the prize in any advertising or promotional materials may not be identical to the one awarded to the Prize Winner. The Prize Winner is solely responsible for all expenses not specifically set forth herein. Any selected upgrades or additions to the Prize, must be invested at the Prize winner’s sole cost and expense. The Prize may not be transferred or assigned except as otherwise indicated herein. Only the listed Prize will be awarded and no substitutions, cash equivalents or exemption will be made. Other restrictions may apply. All provincial, federal and local taxes, fees not included are the responsibility of the Prize winner.
- Plus, the opportunity to be a "Junior Reporter" with the crews and employees of Citytv Calgary and Breakfast Television Calgary during the BT Outdoor Classic Opening Ceremonies to occur on the morning of Friday, February 24, 2012 and during the BT Outdoor Classic finals the morning of Friday, March 2, 2012. Value of this portion of the prize is approximately: $1,000 CDN.
The total value of the prize is approximately $2,200 CDN.
Prize must be accepted as awarded and may not be substituted, transferred or exchanged. Citytv reserve the right to substitute a prize of greater or equal monetary value in the event of the unavailability, for whatever reason, of the advertised prize.
3. Eligibility. This Contest is open to residents of Alberta who are between the ages of six (6) and sixteen (16), and have parental / guardian permission as of the date of entry, excluding employees of the Citytv, its parent and affiliated companies, representatives, dealers, contractors and agents, Contest suppliers and Contest Judges, and each of their immediate family members (defined as parents, siblings, spouses and children, regardless of where they reside), and those with whom they are domiciled (whether related or not). This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations.
4. Privacy/ Personal Information. By entering this Contest, entrants consent to the use of the personal information provided to Citytv and its respective agents for the purpose of administering this Contest and winner consents to the disclosure of their personal information to Hockey Canada for the purpose of fulfilling the Grand Prize. No further use of personal information (including marketing communications) will be made unless entrants provide Citytv with explicit permission to do so as indicated on the entry form. 5. All entries that are incomplete, illegible, damaged, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of these Official Contest Rules may be disqualified by Citytv. Citytv takes no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged, misdirected, late or destroyed entries, or for typographical or other errors. Citytv is not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this Contest. All entries become the property of Citytv and will not be returned.
6. By entering this Contest, entrants release and hold harmless the Citytv, its advertising and promotional agencies and the Contest Judges, their affiliates and respective directors, officers, owners, partners, employees, contractors, agents, dealers, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively the “Releasees”) against, any liability for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind (including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages) to persons or property resulting from: a) the Grand Prize, including the acceptance, participation in, misuse or use of the prize; b) entry or participation in this Contest, including access to and use of the Website, or c) any claims based on personality or privacy rights, defamation or merchandise delivery. Homeowners and/or tenants, as the case may be, may be required to sign a document to this effect.
7. By entering this Contest, entrants represent and warrant that they have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Official Contest Rules.
8. (a) Citytv assumes no responsibility for failure of the internet or the Website during the Contest Period, for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the Contest. Citytv reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest, in whole or in part, and may select an entrant from among all eligible entries received prior to the cancellation, should a virus, bug or any other cause beyond their reasonable control corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any web site associated with this Contest or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such an attempt be made, Citytv reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.
(b) If the identity of an entrant is disputed, the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant. The individual assigned to the e-mail address for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address is considered the authorized account holder. A selected entrant may be required to provide proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the selected entry. All entries must be submitted from a valid e-mail account. The sole determinant of time for the purposes of receipt of a valid entry in this Contest will be the Contest server machine(s).
(c) Citytv's failure to enforce any term of these Official Contest Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. The invalidity or enforceability of any provision of these Official Contest Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. If any provision of the Official Contest Rules is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, then the Official Contest Rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.
(d) In the event an entrant wins the Grand Prize, and is later found to be in violation of these Official Contest Rules he/she will be required to forfeit the Grand Prize and/or to reimburse Citytv for the stated value of the Grand Prize if such violation is discovered after winner has used the Grand Prize.
(e) Citytv reserves the right to correct any typographical, printing, computer programming or operator errors.
